Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Falls Short Against Ranked Concordia

Mt. Vernon faced Concordia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mountaineers fell just short of the Fighting Orioles by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mountaineers have suffered since April 12th.

Mt. Vernon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Bieber, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Molly Daniels was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Vernon and nudges their season record down to 20-7. As for Concordia, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Mt. Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Strafford on the 28th. As for Concordia, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-1 victory against Orrick on the 28th.
