Football Recap: West Jones Mustangs vs. Hattiesburg Tigers
West Jones dropped down to 7-3-1 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Hattiesburg Tigers, falling 41-20. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

West Jones' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tootie Lindsey, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 156 yards on 13 of 22 attempts. A healthy portion of Lindsey's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Chandler Watson.
As for Hattiesburg, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hattiesburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davion Young, who picked up 118 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in two TDs on the ground. Young got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 67 yards. Another player making a difference was Gavin Ducksworth, who threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes.
