Softball Game Preview: Zephyrhills Bulldogs vs. Weeki Wachee Hornets

The Zephyrhills Bulldogs will challenge the Weeki Wachee Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Zephyrhills: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Weeki Wachee has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Zephyrhills lost 11-1 to River Ridge on Wednesday.

Zephyrhills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hope Tackett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee got the win against Fivay on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caydence Murray was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Russo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Weeki Wachee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Weeki Wachee is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Zephyrhills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
