Baseball Game Preview: Marathon Dolphins vs. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions

The Marathon Dolphins are taking a road trip to face off against the Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marathon will be strutting in after a win while Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will be coming in after a defeat.

Marathon's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Somerset Academy South Homestead as Marathon made off with a 16-0 victory.

Reef Rella made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rella was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

In other pitching news, Shane Dieguez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Leal, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryan Broche, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) came up short against Killian on Thursday, falling 8-2. The Stallions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Cutrer, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Marathon pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), they now have a losing record of 1-2.
