Baseball Recap: Howe Comes Up Short

Howe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pottsboro Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Wednesday.

Braden Ulmer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Garren Lankford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Howe now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Pottsboro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.

Howe will be playing at home against Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howe will need to watch out since Blue Ridge has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Pottsboro, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Muenster on the 29th.
