Soccer Game Preview: Horn Lake vs. Cleveland Central

The Horn Lake Eagles will face off against the Cleveland Central Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Horn Lake's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Horn Lake came up short against Lewisburg on Thursday, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Patriots are ranked first).

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Cleveland Central's offense. They lost 4-0 to Canton back in December of 2024. The shutout was out of character for Wolves seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in November of 2024.

Horn Lake's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Cleveland Central, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Everything went Horn Lake's way against Cleveland Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, as Horn Lake made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horn Lake since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
