Softball Game Preview: Watson Chapel Wildcats vs. Star City Bulldogs

Watson Chapel is 0-10 against Star City since February of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Watson Chapel has given up an average of 15.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Watson Chapel fell victim to Crossett and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 20-0. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Star City). Everything went their way against Rison on Thursday as they made off with an 18-4 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Star City pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Watson Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Watson Chapel suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Star City when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
