Basketball Recap: Golden West Takes a Loss

Golden West played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers an easy 61-37 victory. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 729th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 299th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Lloyd is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Grant Hyde, who went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points.

Golden West's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Central Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Golden West will head out to take on Hanford West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Golden West and ten for Hanford West. As for Central Valley Christian, they will take on Monache in a tournament on Thursday. Central Valley Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.
