Basketball Recap: Community Christian Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Community Christian won the last time they faced Casady and things went their way on Thursday too. The Community Christian Royals came out on top against the Casady Cyclones by a score of 57-44. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Cyclones are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Cyclones players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Edwards, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was James Elder, who posted seven points and eight boards.

Community Christian pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Casady, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 17 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season.

Community Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-48 defeat against Ardmore on the 15th. As for Casady, they will head out to square off against Chisholm at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st.
