Softball Recap: Los Amigos Wins Going Away Against Capistrano Valley Christian

With a playoff win on the line, Los Amigos rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles as they made off with a 15-7 victory. Considering the Lobos have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia Gutierrez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Gutierrez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, Los Amigos let Alina Mendez and Maria Castillo run wild. Mendez went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Castillo went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Mendez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Lemusu, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Los Amigos and bumps their season record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

As of now, neither Los Amigos nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
