Baseball Game Preview: St. Croix Central Panthers vs. Ellsworth Panthers

For the second straight game, St. Croix Central will face off against Ellsworth. St. Croix Central will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Ellsworth at 4:30 p.m.

St. Croix Central's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Ellsworth. St. Croix Central hasn't had any issues with Ellsworth recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brecken Ponath and Eli Babler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ponath tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Babler didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. At the plate, Ponath scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Babler went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Heath Kent and Brett Graese did most of the damage at the plate: Kent scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Graese scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Everett Babler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Ellsworth now has a losing record of 1-2. As for St. Croix Central, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
