Volleyball Recap: Grace Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Mary's on Tuesday, Grace Academy came back down to earth. Grace Academy lost 3-0 to the St. Andrew's Highlanders on Thursday. Grace Academy has struggled against St. Andrew's recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-11, 25-7.

Grace Academy's offense was headlined by Ryah Roberson and Aven Roberson, who picked up three kills apiece. Aven really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with four. McKenna Fariss controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

St. Andrew's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Savannah ('Savy') Cook out in front who had 13 digs and eight assists. Those eight assists gave ('Savy') Cook a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Hornaday, who had nine digs and two aces.

Grace Academy's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for St. Andrew's, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Grace Academy and St. Andrew's should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Grace Academy (ranked 490th) will meet Methodist Children's Home (ranked 1503rd) on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Andrew's will face off against Regents at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (244 vs. 503).
