Basketball Recap: Winfield Takes a Loss

Winfield won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They lost 73-48 to the Clopton Hawks. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Winfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Clopton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Charles at 8:00 p.m. on February 4th. Clopton also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Louisiana at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
