Football Recap: Braylon Lawson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sparkman over Mae Jemison

Sparkman was the 31-7 winner over Mae Jemison when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Senators took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars on Friday.

Sparkman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Lawson, who rushed for 133 yards and one TD. Lawson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 133 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayden Bodner, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sparkman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mae Jemison, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sparkman will challenge Bob Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Senators' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mae Jemison, they will venture away from home to face off against Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
