Baseball Recap: Bonita Takes a Loss

If Bonita was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Claremont last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bearcats took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Great Oak Wolfpack on Wednesday. The Bearcats haven't had much luck with the Wolfpack recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bonita got a good showing from Camden Farina, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Farina has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bonita saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Angely, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Bonita's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Great Oak, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Bonita and Great Oak could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bearcats (ranked 198th) will meet Norco (ranked 24th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Great Oak will square off against Paloma Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (446 vs. 188).
