Basketball Recap: Owen Omondi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tippecanoe Valley over Manchester

Tippecanoe Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manchester Squires. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 54-42 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Tippecanoe Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Omondi, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards. Wes Parker was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and six rebounds.

Manchester's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Manchester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Schroll led the charge by shooting 47% from the field on his way to 19 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Schroll a new career-high. Aaron Reid also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Looking ahead, Tippecanoe Valley will host Brownsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Manchester, they will venture away from home to take on Huntington North at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
