Basketball Game Preview: Williams Vikings vs. Joseph City Wildcats

The Williams Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Joseph City Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Saturday, Williams was able to grind out a solid win over Rock Point, taking the game 64-51.

Meanwhile, Joseph City unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Fort Thomas 86-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (68), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Williams will have to keep a close watch on Eli James and Cort Miller, a pair of players who had a big impact on Joseph City's prior game. James went 9 of 20 en route to 24 points and five steals, while Miller went 8 for 16 on his way to 23 points and four steals. James has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Jaimen Tsosie was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Williams has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Joseph City, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6.

Williams strolled past Joseph City in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 62-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williams since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
