Softball Recap: Schaumburg Takes a Loss

Schaumburg had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Buffalo Grove Bison by a score of 7-6. The Saxons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bison apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Madison Linnemann was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Linnemann was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrey Kosek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Taylor Dolecki was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Buffalo Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Schaumburg since April 27, 2018.

On Buffalo Grove's side, the team relied heavily on Erin Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schaumburg will take on Barrington at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Fillies/Broncos will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Saxons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Buffalo Grove, they will face off against Wheeling at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Bison are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
