Softball Game Recap: Tonganoxie Chieftains vs. Ottawa Cyclones

Tonganoxie got themselves on the board against Ottawa on Tuesday, but Ottawa never followed suit. They came out on top against the Cyclones by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Chieftains needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Emerson Maslak was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Charleigh Crain, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Tonganoxie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tonganoxie's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2. As for Ottawa, they dropped their record down to 8-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tonganoxie beat the Cyclones by a score of 10-0 later that day.
