Baseball Game Preview: Cherryville Ironmen vs. Shelby Golden Lions

Cherryville has gone a perfect 9-0 against Shelby recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cherryville Ironmen will take on the Shelby Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. Cherryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Cherryville took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Kings Mountain a 3-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Ironmen as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Parker Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Anderson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Withers, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Shelby had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Bessemer City on Friday.

Shelby's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Cherryville, their record now sits at 2-3.

Everything went Cherryville's way against Shelby in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Cherryville made off with a 16-3 victory. Does Cherryville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shelby turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
