Basketball Recap: Villa Rica Comes Up Short

Villa Rica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 82-63 bruising from the New Manchester Jaguar. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Jaguar are ranked 58th).

New Manchester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Micah Hines led the charge by going 9 of 16 on his way to 25 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The matchup was Hines' 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delancy Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Villa Rica's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for New Manchester, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Villa Rica will welcome Rome at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rome will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Villa Rica surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Manchester, they will head out to take on South Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in New Manchester's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.
