Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

St. Mary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 73-60 to The Park School of Buffalo Pioneers. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 72-68.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Will Szablewski. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The match was Szablewski's sixth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Jones, who posted 11 points and six boards.

The Park School of Buffalo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Greene, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Greene has become a key player for The Park School of Buffalo: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least ten boards, but 3-9 otherwise. Jake Stuckey was another key player, going 9-for-15 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for The Park School of Buffalo, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
