Baseball Recap: Hawaii Prep Victorious

While Hawaii Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let the Kohala Cowboys get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Ka Makani in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won five in a row.

Wyley Ament made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ament was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Nishiki Iwai was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Iwai is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Leon Kikukawa was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Hawaii Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Hawaii Prep's record now sits at 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawaii Prep will head out to square off against Pahoa at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawaii Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season. Kohala will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hawaii Prep at 3:00 p.m. on March 26th.
