Softball Game Preview: J.R. Tucker Tigers vs. Varina Blue Devils

The J.R. Tucker Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Varina Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. J.R. Tucker hasn't scored more than two runs for eight games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

It was a proper cat-fight when J.R. Tucker duked it out with Deep Run on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 10-0 to the Wildcats.

J.R. Tucker saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Shockley, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases.

Patrick Henry hit Varina with a 14-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils came up short against the Patriots, falling 20-0. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Varina's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for J.R. Tucker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

J.R. Tucker came out on top in a nail-biter against Varina when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
