Another week ... another honor for Wyoming (Cincinnati) senior Evan Prater.

Seven days after being named Ohio's 33rd annual Mr. Football winner — Cincinnati's first in 27 years — Prater has been chosen as the Ohio state Player of the Year presented by Suddenlink by Altice. He headlines the MaxPreps Ohio All-State Team.

Prater defines winner. Leading the Cowboys to a 40-2 record in his 42 starts, Wyoming went 40-0 during the regular season in Prater's four years. The Cowboys overall record was 52-3. Prater led Wyoming to a 15-0 record and the 2018 OHSAA Division IV state title. The Cowboys lost 35-14 to Clyde in this year's D-IV state semifinals.



Prater threw for 5,699 yards and 72 touchdowns and ran for 4,124 yards and 74 touchdowns during his career.

The No. 2 overall prospect in Ohio by 247sports.com, Prater is the highest ranked recruit ever to commit to the University of Cincinnati.

The Coach of the Year is Tim Goodwin of Marion Local (Maria Stein), who led the Flyers to their ninth straight state final and record-tying 11th state title despite losing 18 starters from last year's state runner-up squad. Marion Local beat Lucas 28-6 in the D-VII state final. St. Ignatius (Cleveland) has also won 11 Ohio high school football championships. Marion Local has played in 14 state finals (and won all 11 titles) since 2000 with Goodwin as head coach.

QB — Evan Prater, Wyoming (Cincinnati), 6-5, 190, sr.
2019 Ohio Prep Sportswriter’s Association (OPSWA) Ohio Mr. Football winner and the highest ranked recruit (No. 2 in Ohio by 247sports.com) ever landed by the University of Cincinnati. Was 40-2 as a starter and accounted for 146 career touchdowns (ran for 74 and threw for 72). OPSWA D-IV Ohio Offensive Player of the year and first team All-Ohio.

QB — Demeatric Crenshaw, Pickerington Central, 6-2, 215, Sr.
Two-time Division I state champion and first team OPSWA All-Ohio. Accounted for 7,472 yards and 91 touchdowns in 44 career starts en route to leading the Tigers to a 39-5 record in those games.



RB — Miyan Williams, Winton Woods (Cincinnati), 5-10, 210, Sr.
Ohio State recruit was named OPSWA Division II Ohio Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Rushed for 5,823 career yards and 68 touchdowns. Was the 2018 Ohio Mr. Football runner-up.

RB — Ethan Wright, Manchester (Akron), 6-1, 195, Sr.
Mr. Football Finalist and Cincinnati recruit ends his career ranked No. 3 all-time in Ohio history with 130 career touchdowns. Finished with over 7,500 career rushing yards, including over 2,100 in a season as a sophomore, junior and senior. Two-time OPSWA D-V Ohio Offensive Player of the Year.

WR — Chris Scott, Pickerington North, 6-2, 178, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio selection caught 57 passes for 845 yards and nine touchdowns. Holds 11 scholarship offers, including Michigan, Pitt, Rutgers, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

WR — Luke Floriea, Mentor, 5-10, 175, Sr.
Kent State recruit and first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio selection had 124 receptions, 2,077 receiving yards and 32 total touchdowns in 39 career games for Mentor.

TE — Joe Royer, Elder (Cincinnati), 6-5, 225, Sr.
Ohio State recruit caught 70 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio.

OL — Paris Johnson Jr., Princeton (Cincinnati), 6-7, 290, Sr.
Ohio State commit is considered the state’s top senior prospect and the No. 1 overall tackle prospect nationally by 247sports.com. Had 106 pancakes this season. First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio.

Ohio State recruit named Greater Catholic League South co-offensive lineman of the year. Two-time All-GCL. First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio.

OL — Jared Bycznski, Berea-Midpark, 6-4, 305, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio selection and Purdue commit has started every game since his freshman year. Three-time first-team All-Southwest Conference.

OL — TeRah Edwards, Groveport-Madison, 6-2, 316, Sr.
Northwestern recruit was named first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio. Had 58 pancakes and did not allow a sack as the Cruisers made the playoffs for the first time since the Le’veon Bell days. Had 39 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss and 4.5 sacks on defense.

OL — Trey Leroux, Norwalk, 6-8, 330, Sr.
Ohio State recruit named first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio. Two-time Northwest District Lineman of the Year had 37 pancakes.

AP — Jutahn McClain, Fairfield, 5-10, 180, Sr.
Kentucky recruit named OPSWA D-I Ohio Co-Offensive Player of the Year after carrying the ball 226 times for 1,947 yards and 21 touchdowns. Two-time Greater Miami Conference Offensive Athlete of the Year owns 59 career touchdowns.

K — Jake Seibert, La Salle (Cincinnati), 6-1, 190, Sr.
Ohio State recruit named first team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio after hitting 9-of-13 field goals and 63-of-65 point after attempts for the state champions.



DL — Jack Sawyer, Pickerington North, 6-5, 225, Jr.
Ohio State commit is considered the nation’s top-rated junior prospect by 247sports.com. Had 17 sacks and 15 tackles-for-loss. Passed for 977 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 361 yards and six touchdowns after moving to quarterback. First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio.

DL — Jeff Pietrowski, St. Edward (Lakewood), 6-3, 235, Sr.
Michigan State commit named OPSWA D-I Ohio Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Registered 75 tackles, 13 QB hurries, 11 sacks, five tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles and two recoveries.

DL — Darrion Henry, Princeton (Cincinnati), 6-4, 270, Sr.
Ohio State recruit named first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio, Southwest District and GMC. Had 45 tackles, 20 quarterback hurries and 6.5 sacks

DL — Noah Nunn, Medina, 6-4, 230, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio and the Northeast Inland District’s Defensive Player of the Year. Had 88 tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss and four sacks. Son of longtime NFL assistant coach Robert Nunn.
 
LB — Ty Hamilton, Pickerington Central, 6-4, 250, Sr.
Three-year starter named first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio after making 72 tackles and 14 tackles-for-loss during the regular season for the state champions. Ohio State commit and brother of Ohio State starter Davon Hamilton.

LB — Devin Hightower, Archbishop Hoban (Akron), 6-1, 225, Sr.
Michigan State recruit named first team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio. Returned five of his eight interceptions for touchdowns. Had 56 tackles, 15 sacks and 28 tackles-for-loss
During the regular season.

LB — Reid Carrico, Ironton, 6-3, 225, Jr.
Ohio State recruit named OPSWA D-V Ohio and Southeast District Defensive Player of the Year. Rushed for 1,545 yards and scored 25 touchdowns on offense. Tigers finished state runner-up.  

LB — Zach Hill, Olentangy Orange (Lewis Center), 6-2, 218, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio and Central District and Ohio Capital Conference Buckeye Division Defensive Player of the Year. Made 80 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, 14 quarterback hurries and four sacks.



DB — Deshawn Pace, Colerain (Cincinnati), 6-2, 210, Sr.
Cincinnati recruit named the OPSWA D-I Ohio Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Two-time first team All-GMC. Started over 40 career games. Had 60 tackles, five interceptions and six touchdowns (offense).

DB — Angelo Grose, Mansfield Senior, 5-10, 190, Sr.
2019 Ohio Mr. Football runner-up and OPSWA D-III Ohio Defensive Player of the Year. Michigan State recruit had 118 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Caught 77 catches for 1,035 yards and 12 touchdowns. Also ran for nine touchdowns and returned a punt and kickoff for scores. Tygers advanced to first state final (finished runner-up).

DB — Logan Nash,  St. Edward (Lakewood), 5-11, 185, Sr.
University of Pennsylvania recruit allowed just one reception all year. First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio selection had 51 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception.

AP — Sammy Anderson, Trotwood-Madison, 6-2, 170, Sr.
Cincinnati recruit was first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio and the Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year. Had 46 tackles, two interceptions (one for a touchdown), two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Also caught 22 passes for 488 yards and 10 touchdowns and returned two punts for scores for the Rams who won the program’s third state title. Also member of Trotwood’s defending D-II basketball state champions.

P — Sam Massick, Columbus Academy (Gahanna), 5-10, 160, Sr.
Three-time first team OPSWA D-V All-Ohio selection and Princeton commit averaged 51.3 yards per punt. Also connected on 5-of-7 field goals, was 40-of-40 on point-after-attempts and averaged 57.7 yards on kickoffs with 23 touchbacks. Starred as a member of the school’s D-II state semifinalist soccer team and turned in a perfect score on the ACT.

Second Team

QB — Ian Kipp, Mentor, 6-2, 205, Jr.
Mr. Football Finalist named OPSWA D-I Ohio Co-Offensive Player of the Year after leading Mentor to its first undefeated regular season since 2003 in head coach Steve Trivisonno’s 23rd and final season. Threw for 2,314 yards, 22 touchdowns and two interceptions and ran for 849 yards and 14 touchdowns. Has accounted for 56 career touchdowns.



QB — Matthew Luebbe, Elder (Cincinnati), 5-11, 165, Sr.
GCL South Co-Athlete of the Year and first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio. Threw for 3,090 yards and 27 touchdowns and rushed for 1,723 yards and 17 touchdowns en route to leading the Panthers to a D-I state runner-up finish.

RB — Cameron Porter, La Salle (Cincinnati), 5-10, 205, Sr.
Northwestern recruit scored three touchdowns in D-II state final win over Washington (Massillon). GCL South Co-Athlete of the Year and first team OPSWA All-Ohio.
 
RB — Terion Stewart, Sandusky, 5-9, 205, Sr.
OPSWA D-III Offensive Co-Player of the Year is also two-time first team All-Ohio and Northwest District Offensive player of the Year. Bowling Green commit finishes career ranked 22 in Ohio history for career rushing yards (6,133). Finished senior season with 2,163 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns. Owns 14 career 200-yard games.

WR — Jake Ryan, Jackson (Massillon), 6-3, 195, Sr.
Two-time first team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio selection has a school-record 2,090 career receiving yards. Colgate commit caught 46 passes for 709 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

WR — Jayden Ballard, Washington (Massillon), 6-2, 175, Jr.
Ohio State commit caught 68 passes for 1,202 yards and 18 touchdowns. First team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio. Tigers finished state runner-up.

TE — Luke Lachey, Grandview Heights (Columbus), 6-6, 225, Sr.
Iowa recruit is a two-time OPSWA D-VI All-Ohioan. Had 96 receptions for 1,304 yards and 17 touchdowns the last two years. Son of former Ohio State and NFL standout Jim Lachey (Washington Redskins).

OL — Brian Kilbane Jr., St. Edward (Lakewood), 6-4, 275, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio and Bowling Green Commit. Two-year starter.



OL — Branson Taylor, Elyria Catholic, 6-6, 290, Sr.
Pitt recruit was first team OPSWA D-V All-Ohio. Allowed zero sacks.

OL — Luke Kandra, Elder (Cincinnati), 6-5, 305, Sr.
Louisville recruit named GCL South co-offensive lineman of the year. Two-time first team All GCL. Second team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio.  

OL — George Sell, Kenston (Chagrin Falls), 6-5, 275, Sr.
Two-time OPSWA D-III All-Ohio selection and Wake Forest commit has not given up a sack in two years. Graded out at 94 percent this season with 40 pancake blocks.

OL — Ben Christman, Revere (Richfield), 6-5, 315, Jr.
Ohio State recruit and first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio. Added 52 tackles and seven tackles-for-loss on defense.

AP — Marquael Parks, Orrville, 5-9, 160, Jr.
Two-time first team OPSWA D-V All-Ohio and Northeast Inland District Offensive Co-Player of the Year. Upped his career touchdown total to 131, which ranks second all-time in state history. Should break the record (133) next season. Had 3,089 all-purpose yards, including 2,285 rushing, this season. Scored 43 touchdowns (rushing, receiving, kick return and fumble return). Defensively had four interceptions.

K — Garrison Smith, Norwalk, 5-10, 170, Jr.
First team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio. Hit all 50 point-after-attempts and was 11-of-12 on field goals, including makes from 53, 51 and 50 yards. Nine of his 11 field goals were from beyond 40 yards. Had 32 touchbacks.



DL — Jasiyah Robinson, Groveport Madison, 6-4, 225, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio and OCC Capital Division Defensive Player of the Year. Had 81 tackles, 18 tackles-for-loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

DL — Darryl Peterson, Archbishop Hoban (Akron), 6-3, 235, Jr.
Named First team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio after setting a school record for sacks in a season (21). Had 45 tackles, 24 tackles-for-loss and three-forced fumbles. Two-year starter.

DL — Mike Hall, Streetsboro, 6-3, 290, Jr.
First team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio. Had 68 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, five sacks, four caused fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Holds double-digit offers including Ohio State, Michigan State, West Virginia, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

DL — Avery Dunn, Shaker Heights, 6-5, 215, Sr.
Michigan State recruit was named Second Team OPSWA D-I All-Ohio. Had 79 tackles, 31 tackles-for-loss, 10 quarterback hurries, seven sacks, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.

LB — Bangally Kamara, East (Akron), 6-2, 200, Sr.
Pitt recruit had 99 tackles, 21 tackles-for-loss, four sacks and two forced fumbles (returned one for touchdown). Named first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio.

LB — AJ Barner, Aurora, 6-5, 225, Sr.
Indiana recruit led defense that allowed 47 points in regular season (10 games). Named first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio and the Northeast Inland District Defensive Player of the Year. Had 77 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, eight quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown), two sacks and a forced fumble.



LB — Ja'Kobe Crowell, Central Catholic (Toledo), 5-11, 215, Sr.
Two-time first team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio and Northwest District Defensive Player of the Year. Also named Three Rivers Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

LB — Sawyer Koons, Trimble (Glouster), 6-0, 225, Sr.
Was the OPSWA D-VI Ohio Defensive Player of the Year this season after earning the honor in D-VII last year. Also two-time Southeast District Defensive Player of the Year. Spearheaded a unit that allowed six points in nine regular season games. Had 91 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, six forced fumbles, four sacks, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns.

DB — Jaylen Johnson, La Salle (Cincinnati), 6-2, 210, Jr.
First Team GCL South selection had 61 tackles and 10 tackles-for-loss for the D-II state champions. Holds 15 offers including Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, West Virginia and Pitt. Second team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio.

DB — Luke Murphy, Washington (Massillon), 6-1, 184, Sr.
First team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio selection and Kent State commit was heart of Tigers defense and unit’s leading tackler. Had 11 tackles in D-II state final.

DB — Qian Magwood, Walnut Ridge (Columbus), 6-0, 175, Sr.
Two-time first team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio selection considered a lockdown corner who was rarely tested. Had two interceptions and also scored 11 total touchdowns on offense.

AP — Deamonte Trayanum, Archbishop Hoban (Akron), 6-0, 230, Sr.
Arizona State recruit was named first team OPSWA D-II All-Ohio at linebacker last year and first team at running back this season. Four-year starter helped Hoban win three state titles.

P — Ben Sauls, Tippecanoe (Tipp City), 5-11, 159, Sr.
Boston College recruit was first team OPSWA D-III All-Ohio. Averaged 42.9-yards per punt on 32 kicks. Connected on field goals of 55, 50 and 49 yards and all but four of his kickoffs were touchbacks. Won a D-II state title this fall as a member of the boys soccer team.
