Basketball Recap: Ariyah Burke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jackson over Social Circle

Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Social Circle Redskins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the 31-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Jackson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ariyah Burke, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Elicia Smith, who had seven points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Jada Hyman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards for Social Circle. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hyman has scored at least a third of Social Circle's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Morrell, who put up 12 points.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Social Circle, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Jackson will square off against Jasper County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Social Circle, they will challenge Commerce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
