Baseball Recap: Andover Has No Trouble Against Chelmsford

Andover had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 7-1 to make it four. Everything went their way against the Chelmsford Lions as they made off with a 9-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Drew Pulsifer and Chris Jaillet were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pulsifer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jaillet didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Pulsifer posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Pulsifer went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Jaillet went 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Norris, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Berman, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Chelmsford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Chelmsford's side, they got a good showing from Andrew Yen, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andover will square off against Methuen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Rangers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Chelmsford, they will challenge St. John's at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
