Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Providence Grove finally turned things around against Eastern Randolph on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats , sneaking past 3-2.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Providence Grove who won the one that mattered. After all that action, the final score was 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-11.
Providence Grove can attribute much of their success to Callie Hodges, who had eight digs and three aces, and Taryn Waugh, who had seven digs. That's the most aces Hodges has posted since back in August.
Meanwhile, Southern Guilford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Dudley, falling 3-0.
