Football Game Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. Alleghany Trojans + How To Watch

Elkin is 2-7 against Alleghany since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buckin' Elks will square off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Elkin has given up an average of 43.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Elkin and East Wilkes had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Buckin' Elks were outmatched by the Cardinals and fell 66-7. While losing is never fun, the Buckin' Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Cardinals are ranked 150th).

Meanwhile, Alleghany won against Wilkes Central last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Trojans claimed a resounding 42-12 win over North Wilkes. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-6.

Elkin better focus on containing Aiden Love and John LeMasters as the pair were huge in Alleghany's win. Love gained 235 total yards and three touchdowns, while LeMasters rushed for 81 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave LeMasters a new career-high in passing yards (141). Alexis Nuevo helped out on the ground, rushing for 93 yards.

Alleghany was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Alleghany's defense and their four sacks. In that department, AJ Perong was the leader with two.

The victory made it two in a row for Alleghany and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Elkin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Elkin couldn't quite get it done against Alleghany in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 17-7. Can the Buckin' Elks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
