Softball Recap: Cherokee Chiefs vs. Greeneville Greene Devils
Cherokee extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Greeneville Greene Devils, falling 14-4. If the Chiefs were looking for revenge after losing 12-3 to the Greene Devils when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Greeneville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12. The result was nothing new for the Greene Devils, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Greeneville's part, the team relied heavily on Kyla Jobe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Jobe has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Jones, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Cherokee will host Jefferson County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Greeneville, they will head out to face off against Claiborne at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
