Soccer Game Preview: Columbus Academy vs. Johnstown-Monroe

The Columbus Academy Vikings will square off against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Columbus Academy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Wednesday, Columbus Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Whitehall-Yearling and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Johnstown-Monroe made easy work of Northridge on Thursday and carried off a 5-1 win. The result was nothing new for Johnstown-Monroe, who have now won six matches by three goals or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Johnstown-Monroe and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two contests. As for Columbus Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Columbus Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Johnstown-Monroe in their previous matchup back in September of 2021, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
