Volleyball Recap: May River Takes a Loss

May River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Bluffton Bobcats, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

May River couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Bluffton a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-28, 25-22, 25-18.

Leading Bluffton to victory were Trent Giglio and Carlos Garcia. Giglio had 17 digs and five aces, while Garcia had eight digs and two assists. Those 17 digs gave Giglio a new career-high. Jason Dong also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

May River's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Bluffton, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

May River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Bridges Prep on the 15th. As for Bluffton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Bishop England on the 16th.
