Volleyball Recap: North Pontotoc Vikings vs. New Albany Bulldogs

After flying high against Senatobia last Tuesday, North Pontotoc came back down to earth. The North Pontotoc Vikings fell 3-1 to the New Albany Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

North Pontotoc was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made New Albany work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 24-26, 26-24.

Leading New Albany to victory were Laken Hopkins and Teelie Tyer. Hopkins had ten digs, while Tyer had 19 digs and 15 kills. Tyer is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.

North Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for New Albany, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7-2 record this season.

While North Pontotoc had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
