Softball Game Preview: Glenvar Highlanders vs. Floyd County Buffaloes

The Glenvar Highlanders will venture away from home to face off against the Floyd County Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glenvar will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Glenvar is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Salem 17-5 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Highlanders with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Floyd County entered their tilt with Patrick Henry on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Emma Biesterveld was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Floyd County let Kaylee Myers and Ava DeJesus run wild. Myers went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while DeJesus went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave Myers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Allen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Floyd County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Glenvar's record now sits at 5-15. As for Floyd County, their record is now 15-3.
