Softball Recap: Andrews Now 14-1 over Last 15 Games

Andrews extended their postseason success on Saturday against Sulphur Springs. They blew past the Wildcats 15-5. Considering the Mustangs have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Alexys Cornejo, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April. Ryanna Guevara was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Andrews always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sulphur Springs only posted an OBP of .407.

Andrews has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 36-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Sulphur Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 31-10.

Coming up, Andrews will take on Calallen at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Sulphur Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
