Basketball Recap: South Medford Comes Up Short

It was a classic North v. South duel when South Medford duked it out withNorth Medford on Tuesday. The South Medford Panthers fell just short of the North Medford Black Tornado by a score of 62-60. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-52 back in December of 2024.

Leading North Medford to victory were Easton Curtis and Traeger Healy. Curtis went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points, while Healy dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. North Medford is 8-4 when Healy posts ten or more boards, but 1-2 otherwise. Tate Snyder was another key player, putting up 12 points.

South Medford dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for North Medford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

South Medford will square off against South Eugene at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for North Medford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willamette at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Medford is facing Willamette at the right time seeing as Willamette is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
