Baseball Recap: West Potomac Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

West Potomac and Alexandria City squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but West Potomac had to settle for second. They fell 8-3 to the Titans. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost six in a row.

West Potomac got a good showing from Bennett Winkelfoos, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Winkelfoos has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Banks Holman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

West Potomac's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Alexandria City, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

West Potomac does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alexandria City, they will face off against Hayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight.
