Baseball Game Preview: Freehold Township Patriots vs. Neptune Scarlet Fliers

Freehold Township is a perfect 6-0 against Neptune since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Scarlet Fliers at 3:45 p.m. Freehold Township will be strutting in after a win while Neptune will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Freehold Township got the win against St. John-Vianney by a conclusive 19-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Neptune lost 10-2 to Red Bank Regional on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Scarlet Fliers in their meetings with the Bucs: they've now lost five in a row.

Neptune saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Torres, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Neptune's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. Freehold Township has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.

Freehold Township was able to grind out a solid victory over Neptune in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, winning 10-6. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Scarlet Fliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
