League recap: Mercersburg Academy climbs in standings with win

Mercersburg Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to first in Mid-Atlantic Prep. Earlier in the week, the Blue Storm defeated Coolidge 26-21.

Peddie moved up to 31 from 106 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of a 21-7 win over the Falcons.

Lawrenceville School's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Randall West threw for 358 and four touchdowns and Lewis Hayes had 82 yards receiving. On the ground Grayson Helm chipped in 22 yards. Matt Apuzzi helped Lawrenceville School's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 67 yards.

Lawrenceville School's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Big Red feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. West has thrown for 358 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Hayes has six catches for 82 yards. Helm leads the league in rushing with 22 yards.

Mercersburg Academy and the Colts played the most hotly contested game in Mid-Atlantic Prep this week, with Mercersburg Academy eventually emerging with a 26-21 victory.
