Two dominant backs in Braun Johnson and Cruse Coleman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Millsap Bulldogs will welcome the Henrietta Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Millsap has given up an average of 34.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Millsap was beaten by City View 53-14. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 859th, while the Mustangs are ranked 284th).
Although Millsap took the loss, they still got scores from Johnson and Miles Griffin.
Meanwhile, Henrietta hadn't done well against Holliday recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bearcats blew past the Eagles 55-34. The Bearcats pushed the score to 48-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.
Henrietta's win came from a few key players Millsap will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chaden Clark, who threw for 183 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground.
Henrietta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. They are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Henrietta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cooper Coleman, Cooper Gee, and Gage McDonald picked up one apiece. Henrietta is undefeated when McDonald posts one or more interceptions, but 2-4 otherwise.
Millsap's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Henrietta, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Millsap has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 196.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Henrietta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 227.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Millsap against Henrietta in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 55-28 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
