Basketball Recap: Kenneth Hutchinson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley View over Hillcrest

Valley View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hillcrest Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 992nd, while the Trojans are ranked 298th).

Valley View's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenneth Hutchinson, who went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Davion Moore, who posted 11 points.

Valley View's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Hillcrest, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-6.

Valley View will face off against Rancho Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillcrest, they will take on Rancho Verde at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
