Basketball Recap: Osceola Bulldogs vs. High Plains Storm

Osceola played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the High Plains Storm, falling 62-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since January 3rd.

Despite the loss, Osceola saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Recker dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Osceola is 8-3 when Recker posts ten or more boards, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Theis, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Osceola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

High Plains was led to victory by Peyton Hofmann and Emma Brown. Hofmann went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Brown dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Courtney Carlstrom, who earned eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Osceola now has a losing record of 9-10. As for High Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Osceola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-34 defeat against Heartland on the 13th. As for High Plains, they have also already played their next game, a 41-32 win against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on the 14th.
