Softball Recap: Wilson Takes a Loss

Wilson dropped their record down to 7-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Barker Bulldogs, falling 15-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakemen of the 11-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lucy Madan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

As for Barker, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs.

On Barker's side, Mady Flint was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Flint was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Barker let Elise Monaco and Fallyn Mescall run wild. Monaco went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, while Mescall went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Mescall has hit this season. Peyton Bradley was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Wilson and Barker will both be playing Medina the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Lakemen will head out to face them at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
