It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Skyline had no problem doing just that on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Minneola Wildcats out 9-7. The win was nothing new for Skyline as they're now sitting on four straight.
Brayden Berens and Justus Novotny made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Berens struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Novotny tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Berens went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Novotny scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cohen Flanders, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double. Griffin Wallace was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
On Minneola's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Britt Grigsby, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Grigsby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last four games he's played.
