Softball Game Preview: Lake Placid Dragons vs. Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves

The Lake Placid Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Placid is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Lake Placid came up short against Lakewood Ranch and fell 8-4.

Tara Person was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Oxbridge Academy waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hawks. That's two games straight that the ThunderWolves have won by just one run.

Aby Vital made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Bianco, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Oxbridge Academy's record is now 10-4. As for Lake Placid, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Lake Placid might still be hurting after the 16-7 loss they got from Oxbridge Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
