Softball Recap: Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let the Laurel Hill Hoboes get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tenley Smarr made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Smarr was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Shelby Zigler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Addie Holland was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win got Central back to even at 1-1. As for Laurel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laurel Hill, they will square off against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
