Maywood/Hayes Center won the last time they faced Hershey and things went their way on Thursday too. The Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves were the clear victor by a 73-50 margin over the Hershey Panthers. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Karissa Stengel was her usual excellent self, going 10 for 17 en route to 24 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Stengel, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Maywood/Hayes Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 29 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Hershey saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Payton Jones went 7 of 15 on her way to 21 points and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Jones. Another player making a difference was Lexi Pinkerton, who posted seven points and five assists.

Maywood/Hayes Center's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Hershey, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Maywood/Hayes Center has already played their next match, a 73-39 victory against Hitchcock County on the 7th. As for Hershey, they will square off against Grand Island Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
