Basketball Recap: Jack Siegel and Chris Eagan Secure Win for Charlotte Catholic

Charlotte Catholic is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Charlotte Latin on Thursday, but Charlotte Latin came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Charlotte Catholic Cougars skirted past the Charlotte Latin Hawks 74-72. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Hawks are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlotte Catholic was led to victory by Chris Eagan and Jack Siegel. Eagan went 12 of 21 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds, while Siegel went 6 of 8 on his way to 20 points and four steals. What's more, Eagan also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in January. King Rhodes was another key player, putting up seven points.

Charlotte Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Charlotte Latin, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Charlotte Country Day School at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
