Preview: Hutto Hippos vs. Harker Heights Knights
Hutto is 0-5 against Harker Heights since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hutto Hippos will head out on the road to square off against the Harker Heights Knights at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Hutto posted their biggest victory since November 21, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against Ennis as Hutto made off with a 68-47 win. Given Hutto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Ennis is ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cylin Tate continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bell, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Harker Heights entered their tilt with Midway with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Harker Heights took down Midway 69-54 on Friday.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hutto and bumps their season record up to 12-13. As for Harker Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Hutto came up short against Harker Heights when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 60-54. Can Hutto avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
