Baseball Game Preview: Indian Hills Braves vs. Mahwah Thunderbirds

For the second straight game, Indian Hills will face off against Mahwah. The Braves will challenge the Thunderbirds at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Indian Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over Mahwah. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jack Birrer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Birrer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, Ben Piotrowski and Ryan Hurley did most of the damage at the plate: Piotrowski scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hurley scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those runs were Piotrowski's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Biernacki, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Indian Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Indian Hills now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mahwah, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
